A dental implant is a replacement of the root of the tooth. It is a titanium screw which is placed into the jawbone just like a tooth root. The implants look and perform like natural teeth; therefore, they give the most real and long-lasting answer for the restoration of our smile. There are two types of dental implants. Endosteal implants: These are the commonly used type of implants. The dental implant is placed in the jawbone which is made of titanium and shaped like small screws. Subperiosteal implants: In this type of dental implants, the implants are placed under the gum of above the jawbone. This dental implant is used by patients who do not have natural and healthy jawbone or do not want to undergo a bone augmentation procedure to rebuild it again.
