    Why are Dental bridges Important?

A dental bridging is done when the patient has a missing tooth due to any reason. This may affect them in many ways and to serve the need, a false tooth is placed at the empty space or the gap, to make your smile look perfect. Some of the main reasons why dental bridges are important are :

    • To mend your smile.
    •  Restoration of your ability to chew
    •  Restoration of your speech and pronunciation
    • Maintaining the shape of your face.
    • Prevention of moving teeth from falling out.

What are the types of Dental Bridges?

    Traditional Dental Bridges

This type of bridge can be used when the natural teeth on both sides of the gap are present. It is a dental bridge which has a false tooth being held in place by dental crowns that is attached to only one abutment tooth.

    Cantilever Dental Bridges

This type of bridge can be used even when the natural tooth on only one side of the gap is present. It is almost similar to the traditional dental bridge, which has a false tooth being held in place by dental crowns that is attached to only one abutment tooth.

    Maryland Dental Bridge

Maryland bridge uses a framework of either metal or porcelain that is bonded onto the backs of the abutment teeth. It employs two natural abutment teeth, one on each side of the gap. This bridge can only be used when you have a natural tooth on each side of the gap caused by the missing tooth.

    Implant-Supported Dental Bridges

In the process of this type of dental bridging, one implant is surgically placed for every missing tooth, and these implants hold the bridge in position. If one implant for each missing tooth isn’t possible, the bridge may have a pontic suspended between two implant-supported crowns. They are- one to embed the implants in the jawbone and another surgery to place the bridge.
